Ranch History
The ranch was established by Erwin Beitelspacher in the early 1950’s. He and his son Richard raised and showed Angus cattle until 1969, when they began AIing to Simmentals to produce half-bloods. From the early 70’s, Richard and his wife Sharon and their four children built up a reputable purebred Simmental herd. Through 4-H, FFA and Simmental events Beitelspacher Ranch raised and showed several champion steers and heifers across the region.
In 2003, a Simmental dispersal sale was held and Beitelspacher Ranch returned to raising purebred Angus and Simmental x Angus composites. Today, Richard and Sharon Beitelspacher operate the ranch with their son Mark. They maintain about 300 registered Angus cows and a commercial herd of 250 Simmental x Angus based cows. AI is primarily used on the purebred herd. The Beitelspacher’s calve in March and April and hold an annual production sale each March.
